Summer Sun In Lanzarote
Swap the dreary British summer weather for the heat and sunshine of Lanzarote this year. As this popular holiday island has loads to offer tourists beyond just a great climate.
Lanzarote one of the Canary Islands, which are located in the Atlantic close to the Tropic of Cancer. And has a great climate that features very little rainfall but loads of sunshine. Making it an ideal choice for anyone planning a holiday abroad this summer.
As well as wonderful weather Lanzarote offers visitors high standards of accommodation. Fans of self catering properties can select from hundreds of high quality Lanzarote holiday villas. Whilst those seeking hotel accommodation will find a wide range of four and five establishments in the main resorts of Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca. Such as the Los Fariones, located right on the beach in the former resort and widely regarded as one of the best hotels in Lanzarote.
Flights to the island from the UK take about four hours and all land at the sole airport of Arecife which is located about 4km from the capital city of the same name. Transfer times from here to the resort take no more than forty minutes – as Lanzarote is pretty small, measuring around 60km by 40km. A factor which also make it very easy to get around.
Many visitors like to just lie on a sun lounger or on the beach but for those who want to see more there are plenty of things to do. Lanzarote is home to over 300 volcanoes, all of them now dormant, and these make an awe inspiring sight. The Timanfaya National Park is the place to head for to view these volcanoes and lava fields, which stretch for mile after mile.
Local buses don’t run to this region so you´ll need to arrange a vehicle. But there are plenty of Lanzarote car hire offices in all of the main resorts and rental rates are very cheap too.
After the volcanic region head for the breathtaking beach of Famara which is a real favourite with surfers from across Europe. The streets here are paved with sand and the whole village has a real hippy feel to it. From here point your car in the direction of the islands old capital Teguise. Where you can view some beautiful old buildings dating back to the 15th century.
